GRANTS

We have been providing grants to organizations in our community since 1997, just two years after the SDCF was established. By the time the SDCF was 20 years old in 2015 we had issued $1.4 million in grants, starting in 1997 with $10,000 grant and growing to $173,000 in grants by our 20th year. Meet some of our grant recipients in the Our Grants video.

How much can we apply for?

Some of the lowest grants we’ve ever provided have been under a few hundreds dollars and the highest grant was $50,000. In recent years we have provided around 40 grants a year worth a total of $200,000. On average that is about $5,000 per grant.

What kind of things have you funded?

We support projects and programs where a moderate grant will have a significant impact. We typically do not fund 100% per cent of a project. Consider reviewing the list of Grant Recipients on this website in advance, to get a better understanding of what has typically been funded in the past.

Is there something you don’t fund?

We do not provide funds for ongoing operating costs, nor to support annual fundraising campaigns, or cover deficits or retire a debt, to establish or create endowment funds, nor would we fund requests for sectarian, religious or political purposes.

Is there a standard form to fill out?

Yes, please take a moment to review our guidelines below before visiting our Application Forms page to download our standard Microsoft Word or NEW .pdf fillable form.
