Frequently Asked Questions

Who is an eligible applicant?

Projects or programs operating within the City of Selkirk or the Rural Municipalities of St. Andrews or St. Clements in Manitoba are eligible for grants*. Grants are only given to charities registered with Canada Revenue Agency.

*The one exception is that applicants for the Western Canada Summer Games Legacy may come from Selkirk, Beausejour, Stonewall and Gimli, Manitoba and the Lord Selkirk School Division. See separate WCSG Fund Guidelines for details.

When can we apply?

SDCF welcomes applications for funding twice a year.

    • September 30, at the SDCF offices. Decisions are made by January 1.
    • February 28, at the SDCF offices. Decisions are made by May 1.

What kind of things have SDCF funded?

We support projects and programs where a moderate grant will have a significant impact. We typically do not fund 100% per cent of a project. Consider reviewing the list of Grant Recipients on this website in advance, to get a better understanding of what has typically been funded in the past.

What kind of things does SDCF not fund?

We do not provide funds for ongoing operating costs, nor to support annual fundraising campaigns, or cover deficits or retire a debt, to establish or create endowment funds, nor would we fund requests for sectarian, religious or political purposes.

Is there a project budget template that we should use?

Yes, please use the budget template below and upload with your application.
